Not at all. There's a reason this is the darkfic confession blog. The phenomenon of not being able to break the cycle of abuse is both realistic and tragic, and in a way, we have a canon example of it within ii between Cobs creating MePhone and treating him terribly, to MePhone creating the contestants and being responsible for their lives and well-beings, arguably, before he was mentally and emotionally prepared for such a responsibility, and Fan and Test Tube creating Bot with the intention of recreating Bow. Though all three differ in ways I won't elaborate on at the moment, from a broader standpoint, yes, there is a visible cycle. Taking this concept and running with the idea of MePhone being negligent or manipulative towards the contestants, though not in-character for him, is tragically poetic when keeping in mind the fact these behaviors would be derived from the way Cobs treated him. But yes, we love canon MePhone in this household too <3

it's endlessly fascinating how steve cobs talks about the show just like walkie talkie. he sees all this potential in it as a concept, all the ways it would be better without mephone in the picture, while neglecting the fact that it only exists in any capacity because of mephone. he's treating ii as an abstract entity, even though it's really something mephone created by hand
